“After doing some shopping around for some pricey Bridgestone runflat tyres, Gates tyres Carlisle (protyre) came out slightly cheaper than the rest. Used them previously and never had any issues. They normally have the tyres in stock unlike most places in Carlisle which would have to order in what I need. Overall helpful friendly place. It did take a while to do but they had to do all four corners and everyone else in Carlisle picked that day to do the same thing. When coming to pay they turned out cheaper than what I was quoted, so even cheaper than the rest.”

“Andrew from Gates Tyres was an absolute star. I had a Friday lunchtime blowout on the motorway near Lancaster travelling to Edinburgh for the weekend and and whilst on an AA truck tried every tyre dealer for a very non standard tyre. Nobody had one until the following week but Andrew did everything he could to source one. He even tried to get one direct from the Pirelli factory. Finally he got one from a remote depot and got me on my way. Otherwise it would have been a disaster. Top guy/Top service from a company who cared about getting you back on the road and not letting you down.”

“Trust. I Ended up paying in excess of £50 more than I expected to pay for 2 new tyres (£125/each)<br/>+£30 for tracking check which I was not clearly notified would cost extra plus +£20 for some alledged issue associated with having difficulty in removing the valves and needing to install new pressure check valves, which was dressed up / pitched against being a cheaper option to fitting manufacture recommended valves. I was captive and on a time limit and did feel flabbergasted when the bill was presented to me. Upon reflection I feel poorly served and so will be looking to go elsewhere in the future for car tyres.”

“Have been buying tyres from Gates Carlisle for about 5 years. The service is always very good. Andrew at reception is excellent at his job. The fitters are always polite and friendly. The tyres are fitted to a high standard. This is commendable given how busy the place can be.

The only improvement I could suggest would be to clean the wheels properly afterwards with a hose pipe, gentle detergent such as bilt hammer and a wheel brush. In fairness this probably isn't viable.

Prices are usually a little higher than Black Circles quote,

Have used the workshop occasionally – 'Brand' (?) the exhaust man is a craftsman.”

“My car was in for mot repairs. A Ford fiesta with lots of problems. I have to say the staff went above and beyond to get it fixed. They worked on the car all day and even stayed behind past 6 to get it finished for me. I Think it was nearly 7 by the time they had finished fixing an unexpected problem. While i was waiting the staff were absolutely lovely. Very friendly and didn't make me feel bad for keeping them back at all. The staff here are amazing, it's the only garage I feel comfortable going to. I've been a few times and I've always left feeling like I've had the best customer service. Thanks so much to gates tyres :-)”

“I have had years of experience with Gates Tyres, I also held an account with them for many years, so I was disappointed when I was told it had been cancelled when they were taken over, I always found this handy not having to pay for new tyres for 30 days this helped with cash flow as i'm a self employed Taxi driver and I always settled my account within this time frame. I Would have given five stars but for this, as I have got to know the staff very well especially the Manager Andrew who has the same Christian name as me so not easily forgot and he always tells me honestly whether or not I need to change the tyres or not on my Taxi.”

“Web site and online ordering is easy to understand and works well. Was greeted by cheerful staff and tyre change carried out efficiently. Overall very happy with the service provided and will be using Gates Tyres again.”

“I Purchased 2 new tyres and a wheel alignment, upon leaving the garage i found my tracking was off. When the steering wheel was pointing straight the car would be going to the right quite noticeably. Over the course of 2 additional visits and 3 extra hours the team tried various combinations of moving the tyre positions and multiple re alignments and test drives. This then rectified the problem and it drives perfectly again.

Overall they were fantastic, fitted tyres in the time specified, and when the problems were highlighted (over 2 days and 2 trips) they spent time trying to fix it instead of leaving me now they had the money. Great service and highly recommended!”

“Excellent from start to finish. From the guy on the phone, to the guy in the van who put on the spare, the workshop people who fitted the new tyre and the person who did the admin, everyone was really on the ball. Top job.”

“Friendly staff, service completed and explained clearly to me. Good size waiting area. Although I booked an mot and service I was told the mot hadn't been booked in and I had to take the car back another day I was a little frustrated at this but was offered an apology and some of the labour cost was deducted.”

“We were on our way home from holiday and damaged a tyre driving over a pothole. The guys replaced the tyre and another with low tread in a professional and reassuring way. When we resumed our journey the tyre sensor came on and one of the new tyres looked soft against the others. We still had at least 300 miles or so to go. We called Gates for help and they sent someone out to us 36 or so miles down the road. Again professional and reassuring and I never felt I had to battle for helpful customer service. A very rare thing and I have been meaning to say thank you after our epic journey home. So, thank you so much. Sorry that we can't come to you again as you're a bit out of our way!”

“I came in without an appointment following an MOT failure for one tyre. They fitted me in for a new set of four tyres with a reduction in the total bill. My first choice of tyre was not available and they offered me an alternate. These are good tyres at a budget price.

Staff attitude professional and friendly.”

“Excellent service from your mot and mechanic team. Kept me informed and rectified the problems that they found. Could have done without the bill mind, but hey-ho ! It is great to drive a car that you know is safe and feels different too, there's a confidence whilst you're driving that was absent before. Many thanks.”

“It was my 2nd time for a MOT and service and my car failed its MOT on its light?s brakes, the lights were all on when I dropped the car off. Then there were not working on the driver?s side, just fun when one of your staff ran and told me, my car had failed on its daytime running lights. Which I went on to explain that there could fail for that because that?s not part of the MOT, so the police had told me, and then you staff call back and say its all of the lights on the driver?s side, its fun it changed in a phone call. The brakes were put on by you last year, and every other garage have told me I don?t use the brakes enough, so in a year I have used them.
I was warned about this garage and I should have taking notices.”
