DL Mobile Tyres Bridgend

TMO Talks To Lloyd Thomas, Owner

Established in 2025, DL Mobile Tyres Bridgend is a 24/7 mobile tyre fitting business that is accredited to The Motor Ombudsman’s Service and Repair Code. Covering South Wales, and led by owner Lloyd Thomas, the business brings professional tyre support directly to customers at home, at work or at the roadside, offering services including new tyres, puncture repairs, wheel balancing, and emergency callouts.

With a focus on convenience, reliability and getting drivers safely back on the road, DL Mobile Tyres Bridgend has built a strong local reputation for responsive service and practical, customer-first support. We caught up with Lloyd to find out more.

TMO: What drew you to work in the motor industry, and what are your career highlights to date?

LT: My dad owned a fleet of vehicles and was always working on them whenever repairs were needed. Watching him from a young age sparked my interest in the motor industry and inspired me to follow in his footsteps.

That eventually led us to start our own mobile tyre-fitting business, and with seven vans, and now one year on, what more could you ask for?

TMO: What prompted you to launch DL Mobile Tyres Bridgend, and how has it evolved?

LT: It really started because we saw a gap in the market. We could see how quickly things were changing and how much more people valued convenience. My dad and I therefore sat down, put everything down on paper, and worked out whether we could actually make a business work.

After a lot of conversations and some big decisions, we took the plunge and kitted out our first van. At that point, we basically said, “It’s now or never”.

From there, we gave it everything. We worked around the clock, 24/7, seven days a week, doing whatever it took to get the business off the ground and build a good reputation.

We started with just one van, and now we’ve grown to seven vans and a team of 10 employees. When you look back at where we started compared to where we are now, it’s something we’re really proud of. But we’ve still got that same mentality we had from day one — work hard, look after our customers, and keep pushing the business forward.

TMO: How do you make your business stand out in a competitive sector, and what are the key elements of delivering a high standard of work and service to your customers?

LT: We make sure that we stay different from the other businesses, through 24-hour service, seven days a week, offering additional services to ensure that every customer is satisfied with the work that is carried out before our team leaves.

TMO: What are the main services that you provide to motorists, and what are some of the most common issues that you see?

LT: Tyre replacement or puncture repairs are the main services we provide, and stem from consumers not checking their tyres on a regular basis. On a typical day and night, we would be guaranteed to be called out at least six or seven times due to wheel alignment issues and tyres being torn through to the cords.

TMO: What are the main challenges of running a mobile tyre business that is available around the clock, and 365 days a year?

LT: We are fortunate in that we don’t really come across many challenges apart from maybe the odd van breaking down.

TMO: What does a typical day look like for your team, and how much of South Wales do you cover?

LT: We cover the whole of South Wales and beyond, and each van covers 20 plus tyres a day.

TMO: You were named a runner-up in this year’s Best of South Wales Business Awards. What did this mean to you?

LT: We had won this award three times in a row, and this year, being runners up, still made our night. You can’t win every time, but being part of these awards is ultimately what it is all about.

TMO: What initiatives do you do to promote the importance of tyre safety to motorists?

LT: We try and promote the importance of tyre safety as much as we can via social media, but not every person uses these channels, so when we get to customers, we always chat with them about this key aspect of keeping a car safe and in good shape.

TMO: What role does social media play in the promotion of your business?

LT: It plays a vital role in our promotion, as it’s what most people are on these days as a way to consume the latest information, but we never rely purely on this channel, as anything can go wrong.

TMO: We understand that your name will soon be appearing on the shirts of a local football team. How did this come about?

LT: We are always about giving back to the community. This year, we have spent over £5,000 sponsoring local darts, football, rugby, and dance teams across South Wales – something which we are very proud of.

TMO: What is your outlook for 2027?

LT: Next year, as our business grows, we plan to introduce another three vans and open our MOT centre.

TMO: What were the key drivers for DL Mobile Tyres Bridgend gaining accreditation to The Motor Ombudsman’s Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair, and how do you actively promote this to customers?

LT: Being aligned to The Motor Ombudsman’s Code of Practice for Service and Repair gives the customer the important reassurance and peace of mind that they are in safe hands with DL Mobile Tyres.

We try to showcase the accreditation as much as we can on our business cards and social media, which will also be joined by our vans shortly. They are also a very good promotional tool for our business.

TMO: What do you like to do in your free time away from the business?

LT: We are always thinking about what to add to our portfolio of services we offer customers. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t class this as free time, as we’re always on call day and night.
