Car Care Centres clean up

Motor Codes delivers £2 million annual boost for Unipart

  • Motor Codes business generation figures show that it represents a significant service and repair revenue driver for the independent aftermarket.
  • 580 Car Care Centres share in £2 million annual revenue from customers who called them via Motor Codes profile pages.

Demonstrating its worth to the independent aftermarket, Motor Codes, the Trading Standards Institute-approved garage scheme, has announced half-yearly business generation figures.  Based on monitoring of calls made by visitors to its garage profile pages between January and June 2013, Motor Codes creates a £6 million annual influx for independent garages.  Unipart Automotive, the largest independent group subscriber, is a major beneficiary, with in excess of £1 million attributable to Motor Codes referrals in the first half of 2013.

Unipart Car Care Centres make up 7.5% of Motor Codes subscribers, with 580 garages.  Punching above its weight, it receives 10% of all calls Motor Codes generates for its subscriber-base.

Outlining the reasons behind Unipart’s successful engagement with Motor Codes, Stuart Sims, Unipart general manager – marketing, planning and promotions, points to its wholesale adoption of a transparent approach for consumers:

“Unipart recognises the importance of online ratings and was an early user of the Motor Codes system, directing customers to rate their service via motorcodes.co.uk.  There are over 11,500 customer returns for Unipart Car Care Centres and the overall satisfaction rating is a staggering 99%.  This is powerful marketing when you consider that potential customers searching the Motor Codes garage finder may be undecided about where to take their car.”

On average, during January to June, Car Care Centres received around 900 calls via the Motor Codes garage finder, equating to servicing revenue of around £3,500 per garage per year.

“This is significant return on investment”, comments Chris Mason, Motor Codes managing director, “when you consider the subscription cost of £75 per year.”

As well as its high customer satisfaction level, the Unipart Car Care Centre network is rated, on average, at 95% by the RAC, through the independent inspections mandated by Motor Codes.

Helping boost business, Unipart displays its Motor Codes ratings on its own uccc.co.uk garage profile pages.
