Online reviews and Trading Standards approval shape consumer choice
Contrary to opinion that female car owners feel unsure how to find a garage they can trust, Motor Codes has received around 40,000 online reviews of its member garages from women, so far this year.
The Trading Standards Institute-approved garage scheme operates an online garage search and review feature at motorcodes.co.uk, allowing people to read customer feedback of its 8,000 garages, before choosing an approved code member to do business with. And, with 95% of people this year prepared to recommend their garage to friends and family, the 4,000 female survey respondents each month are helping create a hugely valuable consumer tool.
Holly McAllister, head of customer service at Motor Codes, explains how its garage finder works:
“If you’ve moved house, bought a car or simply want to find a better garage than you’re currently using, you can see what other people think of the service they’ve received from Motor Codes businesses.
“The garage finder gives you comprehensive choice, with nearly all main dealers committed to our code of practice, alongside independent garages, all of which are open to online reviews.
“Think of the Motor Codes garage finder as the modern day equivalent of word-of-mouth recommendation.”
All Motor Codes garages are governed by codes of practice approved by Trading Standards Institute and 86% of Motor Codes reviewers say that using a business subscribed to a TSI-approved code of practice would influence their garage choice.
“That’s a ringing endorsement of the clout that a Trading Standards stamp of approval has in the eyes of the public,” adds Holly.
Providing additional reassurance, every Motor Codes garage is inspected by the AA and Motor Codes runs a free advice service, should something go wrong with your car service or if you have any questions about your garage experience.
