Motor Codes is pleased to announce that AutoProtect has become the latest key player to adopt the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Vehicle Warranty Products. Code subscribers currently administer over three million products for cars, including 1.75 million warranties.
“This is good news for consumers as yet another organisation demonstrates its willingness to embrace self-regulation for the benefit of its customers, in turn enhancing the reputation of the industry,” said Motor Codes director Chris Mason. “The Vehicle Warranty Product Code enables responsible businesses such as AutoProtect to demystify the terms and conditions of the products they offer and give increasingly higher standards of customer service.”
AutoProtect is among the leading players in this market as a major provider of direct automotive warranties. Michael McVeigh, AutoProtect operations director said; “We are impressed with the work and initiatives handled by Motor Codes, which have helped car warranties to become credible mainstream products that can be trusted by consumers. By committing to the Vehicle Warranty Products Code, AutoProtect is proud to demonstrate to its customers that it is a responsible provider.”
The Code, which has completed Stage One of the Office of Fair Trading Consumer Codes Approval Scheme, commits subscribers to increasing consumer protection by setting new standards for non-insured warranty products including pre-sale information, cancellation rights and protected claims funds by offering:
• Peace of mind cover
• Products written in clear English
• No high pressure selling
• Providing written summaries of the key contract terms
• Simple, straightforward claims procedures
Harlow-based AutoProtect has been trading for over five years and has a sales team of more than 70 representatives, supporting a network of dealerships nationwide. Its product offerings include cover for motor vehicles, motorcycles, motor homes plus light and heavy commercial vehicles and coaches.
The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Vehicle Warranty Products joined the family of self regulated codes of practice administered by Motor Codes in July 2009- full details of which can be seen at www.motorcodes.co.uk
