Garage of the Year draws record web traffic

Motor Codes outlines business benefit of Garage of the Year contest

  • Over 5,000 votes in first month of competition.
  • 130% year on year increase in garage profile views.
  • Shortlisted garages confirmed 6 April – voting continues to name regional winners.

Dealers and garages subscribing to the Motor Codes Service and Repair Code have benefited from record volumes of web traffic and over 100,000 profile page views in the last month alone, on the back of the Motor Codes Garage of the Year competition brought to you by Havoline.

National media coverage of the competition has led over 5,000 motorists to cast their votes and thousands more to search for their local garage at http://www.motorcodes.co.uk/, delivering real business opportunities for subscribers and helping to raise the trade’s image.

“Garage of the Year is all about mobilising motorists to shout about their positive garage experiences while driving business to code subscribers,” commented Motor Codes managing director, Chris Mason. “The competition has seen thousands of motorists go online to vote but the real impact is much greater. The website is getting record volumes of web traffic as thousands more visit the profile pages to find their next garage. The competition is providing a significant marketing boost for the Motor Codes network.”

The competition, designed to find the best garages in the UK, is judged through online nominations and customer comment, reflecting the Motor Codes ethos of transparency within its network.

Outlining the basic principle of the competition, Chris adds, “The garages that take advantage of this competition realise the marketing potential of getting satisfied customers to rate the standard of service received. Things might have moved online but there’s still no more powerful form of marketing than word of mouth.”

The growth of the competition, now in its third year, is evident, with Motor Codes pulling in support from headline sponsor Havoline and the backing of The Sun’s Motors editor, Ken Gibson, one of this year’s judges.

Since voting opened, traffic to the Motor Codes website has risen significantly, with more than 100,000 views of profile pages.

Voting for the first stage of Garage of the Year is open until 1 April.  Shortlisted garages – the regional top 10s – will then be compiled.  Customers of these garages can then continue voting until the competition closes on 22 April.  The winning garages will be announced in May.
