This week, RAC extended its assistance for UK motorists to the world of car repairs and maintenance by joining forces with industry regulator Motor Codes. RAC will now offer its two million monthly online visitors a Garage Finder tool that identifies the nearest reputable garage to a user’s postcode or town.
The new search function is set to increase the half a million annual searches on the Motor Codes website, delivering approved garages across the country thousands more customers. With government support for the Codes hitting new highs, this push from such a trusted organisation as RAC is sure to see even more garages subscribing to the Motor Industry Code of Practice as customers increasingly seek the peace of mind offered by the organisation.
“RAC inspectors already carry out periodic garage checks to make sure standards are being maintained, so directing members of the public to these garages makes perfect sense,” explained Adrian McCarthy, head of RAC technical services. “The Motor Codes service is unique, in that it offers a nationwide network of garages that are backed-up by regular RAC audits and the Code’s dispute resolution service.”
Complementing the Garage Finder tool is the Code Survey that gathers customer feedback to enable businesses to make improvements. Supported by a new customer incentive campaign, the Survey has seen monthly responses increase by over 350%.
“Garages offering a safe haven where motorists can experience a high standard of customer service and skilled workmanship are already fulfilling the core function of a Motor Codes business,” explained Chris Mason, Motor Codes director. “Subscribing to the Code enables these garages to stand up and be counted as one of the good guys and recognition on a platform such as the RAC website will reinforce this status to new and existing customers.”
