UK motorists to champion nation’s best garages

Motor Codes, the self-regulatory body that oversees the activity of over 6,500 service and repair centres, has launched its nationwide Golden Garages competition for 2011.

Developing a network of safe haven service and repair centres, the Golden Garages contest enables motorists to identify the best local garages, producing a modern-day word of mouth recommendation of the best places to go for repairs.

“Levels of garage expertise, quality and service have never been better, but finding those businesses that offer high standards, excellent customer service and a stress-free experience can be difficult – Golden Garages changes that by highlighting the best of the best,” said Chris Mason, Motor Codes Managing Director.

Last year, over 9,000 motorists voted to find the UK’s most trusted garages, helping to dispel the myth that booking in for a service can be a risky affair. By identifying best practice businesses in every region of the UK, a benchmark is set for every garage in the area, driving up standards and spreading peace of mind to motorists.

Industry expert, former car trader and Golden Garages judge, Mike Brewer, supports the competition and what is sets out to achieve, “I hear from thousands of drivers every month who want to find a garage they can trust, where work is done well and the prices charged are fair. Motor Codes, with its Golden Garages competition, is providing that service. We need to get behind those garages that do good, honest business so that getting your car seen to isn’t a pot luck ordeal.”

Motorists can vote for their favourite local garage at http://www.goldengarages.co.uk/ and by taking part, will automatically be in with a chance of winning a thrilling Porsche Driving Experience. In addition, every vote will play its part in raising standards across the automotive industry.

Voting is open now at http://www.goldengarages.co.uk/, the UK’s top 50 Garages will be identified in February, the top 10 in March and the national winner will be revealed in early April.
