Approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), our Codes of Practice covering car sales, servicing and repairs, new car warranties and extended warranties offer clear-cut customer service expectations for car owners and a revenue opportunity for accredited businesses.
Our short video tells you all about what you can benefit from and you can find even more information below
As a business accredited to The Motor Ombudsman you’ll benefit from…
1. Unlimited access to our Information Line and Adjudication Service
Although you’re committed to offering the best service, things can go wrong at times. Our legally trained adjudicators are on hand to take calls from car owners but also to help guide you through the dispute resolution process and offer an impartial perspective on the complaint. Our adjudication service is part of your accreditation and free for consumers, offering fair and reasonable decisions.
You’ll also be fulfilling your legal obligations by being able to signpoint a consumer to use our ADR service, in the event of a dispute you are unable to resolve. Having an independent organisation look into your dispute helps shoulder the burden of the complaint and can help to repair relations and increase customer satisfaction.
2. Use of The Motor Ombudsman and CTSI-approved Code logo
You’ll be able to download a free CTSI marketing pack and you’ll be able to display The Motor Ombudsman and CTSI-approved code logo on your premises, website, paperwork, and marketing communications – giving consumers confidence that you’re committed to a higher standard of service.
3. Valuable feedback and ratings from your customers, and they could win £500 in Lifestyle Vouchers!
Through our unique online review system you’ll be able to use customer feedback to promote your business and stand out from the crowd. You’ll also be able to show your customer feedback on your own website, giving added credibility and reassurance.
Encourage your customers to leave you an online review on The Motor Ombudsman website and they could win £500 in Lifestyle vouchers, in our quarterly prize draw, effectively winning back the cost of their car service or repair!
4. Your accreditation will be recorded by the DVSA
For MOT testing stations, the DVSA now records whether a vehicle testing station (VTS) is a member of a Chartered Trading Standards Institute-approved Code of Practice during the MOT test centre inspection, which may help the DVSA to consider your vehicle testing station as low risk, resulting in reduced regulatory checks.
5. A unique, customisable profile page to promote your business on our Garage Finder
You’ll get a free online profile page on The Motor Ombudsman website which you can customise yourself, as well as adding your latest offers. There are tens of thousands of profile page views per week on our website; that’s tens of thousands of potential customers looking for a local garage to do business with.
6. Access to training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and The Consumer Rights Act 2015
In conjunction with CTSI, The Motor Ombudsman has developed online interactive training modules to ensure accredited businesses fully understand their obligations under the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) regulations and the Consumer Rights Act legislation. On completion you’ll receive a certificate and they count towards CPD.
We also host webinars relating to new developments in legislation and trends, with guest speakers, to keep you fully up to date.
7. Increased exposure and new business leads
You’ll also benefit from increased business as a result of our regional and national PR and advertising campaigns. We work hard to promote the quality of our accredited business and our regular campaigns are designed to drive more customers directly to your door.
Our annual Garage Star Awards, shine the spotlight on our businesses that go above in beyond in terms of customer service and the opportunity to be recognised as a regional or overall winner is open to all of our accredited businesses.
