TMO’s Knowledge Base sees over half a million views since January

The Motor Ombudsman’s Knowledge Base records more than half a million views between January and September 

 

The Motor Ombudsman’s online Knowledge Base, the reference tool designed to provide consumers with responses to some of the most common queries on car ownership and dispute resolution, recorded 530,062 views across the tool’s 11 categories during the first nine months of 2022. This equates to a 44% uplift compared to the same period in 2021 (367,444), highlighting the “go-to” resource’s continued popularity. Over 110,000 of these views were witnessed between July and September this year.

 

The Q&A around whether a consumer can return a car within 14 days of buying it emerged as the most popular article for the third consecutive quarter in 2022 (at 11,633 views), with the article about the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and how it affects a vehicle purchase rising one place in the top 10 classification to second spot with nearly 8,741 reads. The third most popular Q&A provided guidance regarding whether it was possible to obtain a refund after a deposit had been put down on a vehicle accumulated nearly 6,638 views.

 

The most consulted service and repair-related topic between July and September was in relation to the steps that can be taken if a consumer deems a garage to be taking too long to fix their vehicle, which came in at four with 6,135 reads, up from fifth place in the second quarter. The other vehicle maintenance Q&A to make the top 10 provided information on what a vehicle owner is able to do if they were unhappy with the work that had been carried out on their car (2,728 views).

 

Climbing the most places during the past three months was the Q&A in the New and Used Car Sales category on the subject of how to log a complaint about a vehicle, a topic which rose in popularity from ninth to seventh overall thanks to a total of 3,368 views.

 

Remaining in the top 10 table after making a new entry in the last quarter, was the article from the Distance Sales category as to whether a finance agreement will be cancelled if a car has been returned after 14 days of buying it “at a distance” (2,329 views).
