What happens if my MOT certificate has expired, and I have been in self-isolation?

If your MOT has expired, and you are in self-isolation, the DVSA is advising drivers to make an application to register their vehicle as being off the road (also known as a Statutory Off Road Notification or SORN), and to then apply for an MOT test once the period of self-isolation is over.

NB: After the MOT certificate has expired, a car cannot be driven without a valid MOT certificate unless it is to go to or from somewhere to be repaired, or to a pre-booked MOT test.
